During July 2018 within the framework of Support Programme for Protected Areas in the Caucasus – Georgia Program were awarded 87 inhabitants of 5 communities in the support zone of Kazbegi NP. In total population received 261 units of beehives with bee families. Beneficiaries had been identified on 30 May and revealed after participation in training and going through a paper-based test.
Supporting Beekeeping in 5 communities in the support zone of Kazbegi NP has been started in 2016. During 2016-2017 local population received 460 beehives with bee families.
The competition was funded by the German Reconstruction Credit Bank (KfW) and supported by Kazbegi NP Friends Association. The project is implemented by Consulting Group "GFA".
It should be noted, that for more promotion of beekeeping industry and supporting local farmers, on the territory of village Tkatsheti is being renovated and equipped “Beekeeping enterprises”, which will be managed by Kazbegi NP Friends Association. Enterprises will provide packaging and labeling services to local farmers.
