Identifying persons interested in beekeeping in Ukanapshavi community

On July 18, 2017, a contest to “Identify Persons Interested in Beekeeping” was held for the permanent residents of the support zone community (Ukanapshavi) of Pshav-Khevsureti Protected Areas. The purpose of the contest is to create additional sources of income for the local population through the development of beekeeping sector in their own households.

During the first phase, have been identified persons who want to develop beekeeping and have favorable household conditions for this. On the later stages, 2–day training in beekeeping as well as an examination of the acquired knowledge for the chosen 31 candidates will be carried out. As a result, identified winners will be granted with bee families and beehives. 

The contest is being held within the frames of the Support Programme for Protected Areas in the Caucasus – Georgia, with the support of Pshav-Khevsureti PAs Regional Advisory Council and Friends Association.
